2007-2008 SCEA Program Year Kicks Off! Blue arrow bullet graphic  Back To Home
September 2007

Welcome to another great year for the Greater Alabama SCEA Chapter!  I look forward to seeing all of you again as we kick off our 2007-2008 year.  Our board has many goals for our chapter including continued growth of chapter members and community involvement.  I am encouraged by the participation of our members and am eager to continue to help grow SCEA within the professional and civic communities.  I am delighted to let everyone know that in the spirit of community service, your Greater Alabama SCEA Chapter donated $1000.00 to the Rolling Hills Elementary School.  The principal, Helen Scott, received the donation.  Rolling Hills will use the money to purchase books and make structural improvements (shelving, etc.) to the school library.  Vicki Kitchens presented her with the check in late May and Ms. Scott was extremely grateful.  Thank you again for helping to make this possible.

Your Board of Directors has been working all summer to get ready for the coming year.  We are lining up great speakers and will again be offering an educational seminar in November.  Your new Board members for the 2007-2008 year are:

- Dean Kimmel, President
- Matt Decker, Vice President
- Donna Hoffman, Treasurer
- Jenny Hunkapiller, Administrative
- Christian Smart, Education
- Sam Cooke, Certification
- David Cowart, Membership—Industry
- Donna Rigsby, Membership—Government
- Scott Hillstead, Publicity
- Ashley Batchelor, Webmaster
- Vicki Kitchens, Past President

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each of our Board members for their hard work this summer.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to call or e-mail any board member. (Contact Information is on our chapter website.)

Our first luncheon will be September 11, 2007 at the Gemini Room, SAIC, 6723 Odyssey Drive, Huntsville, AL.  This is the new SAIC building.  Mr. William Hermann of Paradigm Technologies, Inc., an MDA Ground-Based Midcourse Defense Statistical Cost Analyst will be here to speak about "Selected Topics in the development of Learning Curves".  I encourage all of you to attend the luncheon and learn about real-time analysis being performed by our colleges in the cost estimating and analysis field.

As we focus on making this chapter a more visible part of our community, I challenge each of you to help spread the word about SCEA and look for opportunities to promote our profession and our chapter.

I look forward to seeing all of you at our September meeting!

Dean Kimmel
President
